"Spicing things up"
Kat has gone Blog crazy, and I'm catching the fever. She loves to blog! She loves pictures and posting new things. With her new hobby, she has discovered many new things on what you can do with blogs. It is very interesting and I am enjoying finding new things out, and now I have a pretty good understanding of what i can do with this blog now. I am still discovering (or at least Kat is, and I'm copying her) new way's to "spice things up". It is a lot of fun and quite entertaining. It's amazing what we can do now with technology!

Responsibility
So I was sitting in church today and we were talking about God and God's nature. We read the scripture in Alma 7:20 where it says: "I perceive that it has been made known unto you, by the testimony of his word, that he cannot walk in crooked paths; neither doth he vary from that which he hath said; neither hath he a shadow of turning from the right to the left,or from that which is right to that which is wrong' therefore, his course is one eternal round."
The part I bolded, struck my thoughts and sent me off into la-la land, where I usually come up with my thoughts and epiphanies. I started thinking how true that is, that God doesn't do turn to the right or left, he keeps on going and sticks to his word no matter what. I thought about certain politicians, and their views on important subjects. I thought about Abortion. Some say it is okay, some say it should be personal choice, and others say absolutely not!
I thought about what God would say about that and was kind of surprised at how quickly my mind said absolutely not! I will explain why I feel about this.
God gives us our agency. It is one of the greatest gifts we have ever been given. We are free to choose to walk about and not partake of fruit, which is bad for us, or to partake of it, and learn from it. We can decide to do whatever we want in life. What we cannot decide; however, are the consequences that come from the choices we make.
We live in an amazing Country, where we are able to make many choices on our own accord. Some call it the American Dream. The American Dream to me is being able to work hard at something, and achieve it because we are free to progress without tyrants controlling what we do. But it is also about taking responsibility of our choices, whether bad or good, and stepping up to the plate when we have made a wrong choice.
The American society has degraded a lot. Many people believe they are entitled to things just because they are citizens of the country, and that they shouldn't have to work hard, or take responsibilities of what they have done in the past, and this bug's me a lot.
If a girl get's pregnant, whether she means to or not, she should take responsibility of the life she is creating. I know the question arises, what if she is just a child herself? what if she was raped? These questions are not to be taken lightly. But either way, There is a life growing inside her and she needs to take responsibility of it. It is not always easy, I have never gone through pregnancy/childbirth, and so I cannot say how difficult it is. Life however, is never easy, and it was never meant to be. And it is not just with abortion, it is with everything.
Nobody is perfect, and I am far from it. But that is no excuse to not try and be as much like our Father in Heaven as possible. We need to take responsibility for all our actions, and though some may not be easy to face, we can always progress, that is what is so great about America. The progression may be slow, but it will be worth it. We need to strive not to look left or right of what we have done, but to strive forward with an eye single to God and he will guide us to happiness we have never imagined.

A Crazy Day at the Temple
Yesterday, We decided to go to the Temple and have dinner there as well. We got to the Temple hungry, and went down to the cafeteria, which smelt delicious! We got our trays and utinsils and were standing in line when I noticed a sign that said, "We're sorry, we can not accept credit cards here at this time", or something to that matter. Honestly though, who doesn't accept credit cards these days? Anyways, we left the temple because Kat said she had to eat now, or she was going to be sick. So we went to a grille restaurant and got seated. We experienced probably the worst service ever, and an overpriced meal. We went back to the Temple and got our clothes on to do sealings. The sealer was a bit off his crocker. He kept saying how it was the anniversary of his wifes death and how he was ready to die and be with her. It was kind of disturbing how he kept talking about dieing. When it was our turn to do the sealings, We knelt acrossed the altar and after about two names, Kat started looking sick. We got done and Kat stood up and said she didn't feel good so we went out of the sealing room. As soon as we got out of the sealing room, Kat started swaying. I put my arm around her and asked if she was alright, the color drained from her face and she fainted. I yelled her name and gently put her on the ground, I didn't know what to think. As soon as I put her on the ground, she woke up again, thank goodness. I was pretty scared until she opened her eyes. By that time, people had swarmmed around her, and security had been called. I propped her feet on my knee and we asked if she knew where she was and stuff. She responded good and we brought her to the first aide room where they gave her some juice and crackers and had her lay down. They said people faint while doing sealings all the time, something to do with kneeling down. It was a scary experiance, but I am thankful that we have been sealed so that no matter what, we will always be together.

Change
Well, well, well, where to begin? A lot of changes have happened, are happening since my last post. I guess I'll get the big stuff out of the way first. As most of you know,I got a job with Ephraim Police and I love it! I started the first of December and it has been an amazing job. The people I work with are great and are teaching me a lot of good stuff. I have already started going out on my own and now, all's I do is call my sgt or chief if something big comes up.
Also, Kat and I were married Dec. 18th for time and all eternity in the Boston Temple! It was a great experience, and highly recomendable to anyone not married in the Temple. We spent the week before that flying out to Kat's parents house and getting everything ready for the big day. During the week, I got allergies, and every day it got worse and worse. I NEVER get allergies so I had no idea what it would be. My sister in law figured it out...it was the laundry detergant my inlaws use. It's so bad that when they came out to Utah, whenever I was around them, my allergies would act up again. Aside from that, everything went great! I have some great in-law's and if anyone needs a wedding planner, my sister in law is the best! The wedding was unlike anything I have ever seen but it was great! (Apparently, us Utah Mormons do wedding receptions a lot different than everybody else)I really enjoyed it though, and the decorations were amazing.
The week was a great one, and then we had to come home early monday morning so I could get to work on Tuesday. Like I said before, work is great and I thoroghly enjoy it. They let me stay home most of Christmas night, while I was on duty. They had me go out for a half hour, then come home for two, then out for a half, then come home for two, etc. It was really nice. On Christmas eve, Kat also made an amazing Christmas eve dinner consisting of a honey baked ham, funeral potatoes, green bean casserole, homemade rolls, and boston creame pie!
Kat's parents flew in Sunday night and on Monday we went up north and got new furniture with our wedding money. We got couches and a tv/tv stand, a bed frame and a book shelf and for our wedding present Kat's parents bought us a dining set. The bed frame, dining set, and book shelf, won't come in until thursday but it sure is nice to have couches to sit down on. We then made it to Rose's house for the annual Bartholomew Christmas party. It was great to see the whole family for the second time in less than a month. I love my family! both sides!
We had the Fayette reception the next day but before that Kat and I and Kat's parents went to the temple for a session. Kat's parents had never been to the Manti temple before and they loved it. It was a great session and as we were waiting for the session to start, Elder Bednar walked in! It was amazing! Not too many people can say they did a session with an apostle to the Lord, and I sat right behind him!
Wednesday it was back to work for me. While at work, Kat and her parents went to work in the house, getting things organized, and putting up pictures, and now our apartment looks great! I sometimes wish we already had a house so we wouldn't have to do it all over again because it looks so good.
Kat's parents went home the next day and I've worked every day since then till today, when i got up at 6 for work, I noticed I had a voicemail from my seargent who told me he messed the schedule up and I had worked too much this week so I have a four day weekend, work one day, and then have another 3 day weekend. I am excited for this.
Now for the pictures and blog updates. As you may have noticed, my lovely wife spiced up my blog look. We don't have internet at the house yet so we haven't been able to post pictures of the wedding or of the appartment, I know, many of you are excited to see them, almost as excited as Kat is to post them! We will have them up soon, but not on the blog. After reading my friend, Juan's blog, I decided to change my blogging style. He had a school assignment to start and keep up a blog, but he had no pictures on it. I really actually enjoy reading his blog a lot and he has inspired me to write a lot more than post pictures, seeing how most everybody who reads this will also have facebook and see all of my pictures there anyways. So for now I think i will just write and express whatever my mind is thinking at the time I blog, but will also try to write at least once a week. It is kind of like a journal/newspaper column and it looks like a lot of fun. Kat will be making her own blog very soon with pictures and things, maybe even tonight. However, it is getting late, so this is all I will right for now.

Lake Powell
The Arch was our main focus of the hike, We went on top of it, it was very high, i chickened out on going onto it, I just don't like heights very much, especially when I'm about to get married soon.
A cool side cave we explored. The hike was said to be 4 miles round trip, but i think we did 5 altogether. We explored and hikes around a lot, it was a lot of fun but we were all very sore at the end of the day.

The Story
So I had originally planned to take Kat up to a waterfall and propose there, but i got the feeling that she was catching on, so Mary Ann got the idea to go up to Timpanogas cave. I looked it up and found out there was a giant, heart shaped, sculpture. We went up and started going through the cave and finally got to the giant heart. I had Mary Ann take our picture and the ceiling was too low for me to stand so i had to kneel down. She took our picture and then she said, hold on, the camera is messed up, and really switched it to video. While Kat was distracted, I pulled out the ring.
